For some reason it looks quite similar to the 1st gen Megane cabriolet. The rising beltline is probably the main reason.

yes they do.
i was reading an article somewhere , apparently there is also a Sandman ute.
but i’ve never seen it.

I went deep. I made an account at mysandman.com.au, which gave access to these:
I tried looking up both the licence plates here ( http://vre.vicroads.vic.gov.au/VREResults.asp… ), including QQE, OOE, OQE and QOE for the ute. No avail. I found another photo on Google with a black soft cover for the tray.
If Holden sold it I reckon someone would take care of it. I don’t think it’s been scrapped. I’d wager it’s in a collection somewhere, either at Holden or otherwise.
